Jenna Nees

The Purdue Extension Putnam County office staff would like to welcome Jenna Nees who will be joining the staff as the new Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Extension Educator beginning on Feb. 1.

Since September, the position has been vacant with the departure of Ann Delchambre.

Jenna is married to Ryan Nees and is a Putnam County native. She is the daughter of Keith and Mona Smith of Cloverdale.

A 2003 graduate of Cloverdale High School, Nees earned a bachelor of science in agribusiness management, with a minor in animal science from Purdue University in 2007.

She continued with her graduate work, additionally earning a master of science in agriculture economics at Purdue University in 2008.

Following her studies at Purdue University, Nees became the ANR extension educator in both Owen and Clay County Purdue Extension offices in 2009. Later in 2012, she also became the County Extension director in Clay County. These five plus years of experience has well equipped Nees with experience which will make her a strong asset for the Putnam County Extension program.

In the Owen and Clay County position, Nees has hosted Master Gardener programs, co-chaired the Purdue Women in Ag Team, and serves on the agricultural economics focus group team, where she has specialized with the land lease team. She has also worked extensively with the Purdue succession planning team.

Her work with Annie's Project helps to enable farm spouses to become active participants in the farm operational decision making process.

The ANR Educator is one of three Extension Educators who serves the residents of the Putnam County. The ANR Educator serves as provided by state law on the county plan commission and provides private applicator programs. Additionally the ANR Educator assists residents with land use, livestock, agronomic, horticulture, and pest questions and information. Programming also includes a vast array of educational programs which enables residents to better manage and work with both small and large scale farm, natural resource, lawn, garden, land and production decisions.
