Jerry Collier

Jerry Collier, 78, of Gosport, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1936 in Owen County, he was the son of Clarence "Moose" Collier and Ruby (Martin) Collier.

Last year Jerry celebrated 50 years out of the Bloomington Carpenters Local.

He was a member of the Gosport United Methodist Church.

Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

He leaves behind his lovely wife of 57 years, Audrey (Keith) Collier; two sons, Timothy Collier and his wife, Mindy of Gosport, and David Collier and his wife Angie of Spencer; a daughter, Cynthia Mattox and her husband Jeff of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Jason, Jeremiah, Lynne, Jeffery, Samantha and Amy; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn O'Bannon and Vicky Collier-Chambers; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Clarence "Moose" Collier and Ruby (Martin) Collier, one sister, Beverly "Boots" Robertson and his mother and father in law, Owen and Clida (New) Keith.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Don Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.

The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard in Bloomington is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Jerry be given to the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
