City Police

A 36-year-old Putnam County man was arrested Wednesday on eight separate charges, Greencastle City Police reported.

Officer Kyle Lee arrested Darrell Goff of Coatesville after reportedly following a speeding car through town and then observing it roll through a stopsign near the DePauw University campus.

The officer said the car then turned into the parking lot at Marvin's, 202 S. College Ave., about 12:15 a.m.

Trouble was, the vehicle that he pulled into the restaurant lot -- a black 2011 Ford Edge -- wasn't Goff's to begin with, police said. It had been reported stolen out of Vigo County.

Officer Lee subsequently arrested Goff and lodged him in the Putnam County Jail on charges of:

-- Auto theft.

-- Receiving stolen auto parts.

-- Driving without a license.

-- Unlawful possession of a legend drug.

-- Possession of marijuana.

-- Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (two counts).

-- Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

-- Possession of paraphernalia.

During an initial appearance in Putnam Superior Court Wednesday afternoon, Goff was ordered held on $2,500 cash bond since he is facing two felony counts (theft and unlawful possession of the legend drug).

A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered for Goff and attorney Eddie Felling was appointed to represent him.

A pretrial conference in the case was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 18.
