Mary Jane 'Janie' Truax

Mary Jane ("Janie") Truax, 95, Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at Asbury Towers in Greencastle.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1919 in Pulaski County, Ky., and was the daughter of William Morrison Hines and Bessie (Fisher) Hines.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Cataract Missionary Baptist Church and had retired from the Donna Nursing Home at Cloverdale.

She is survived by her children, Sandra L. McCloud and husband John, Coatesville, Stephen A. Truax and wife Linda, Greencastle, John C. Truax and wife Dixie, Bloomington, and Edward R. Truax and wife Patti, Cloverdale; her grandchildren, Ryan Cassell and wife Erin, Kelly Jones, Brandon Akamu, Brandi Marshall and husband Mark, Hilary Vaughan and husband Brandon and Brian Truax; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Lou Hines; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Morrison and Bessie Hines, her sister, Lillie Mae Ping, her brothers, William Jasper Hines and Maurice Ray Hines and her grandson, Alex Truax.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
