County Jail

Eight people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, Garry Dean Rigney Jr., 34, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of battery with bodily injury, invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct.

* At 6:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, Lindsey Fletcher, 34, Fillmore, was arrested for criminal recklessness.

* At 3:04 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, Nacole Ann Hilburn, 26, Greencastle, was lodged in the jail on charges of domestic battery, false informing and assisting a criminal.

* At 3:38 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, Joshua Allen Sebastian, 24, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of battery with bodily injury, invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct.

* At 12:07 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1., Stacey Larae Northington, 25, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of battery with bodily injury, invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct.

* At 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, Mikele Joseph Day, 23, Greenwood, was taken to jail and charged with being a habitual traffic violator and driving while intoxicated.

* At 5:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, Patience Gisell Dailey, 21, Danville, was arresting for resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 5:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1., Sabastian John Davis, 21, Clayton, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Two weather-related accidents were investigated recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 1:59 a.m. Monday, a one-vehicle mishap was reported on Bloomington Street at its intersection with Washington Street.

Dustin Perdue, 23, Greencastle, was attempting to turn his 2006 Dodge Dakota westbound onto Washington Street when he encountered an icy patch, lost control of the vehicle and the truck ran off the road.

Officer Matt Huffman estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 4:01 a.m. Sunday, a one-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road, just west of its intersection with State Road 240.

Kyle Dubois, 23, Greencastle, was westbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 2002 Pontiac Aztec when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a curb and ran through the yard at the American Legion Post, went airborne briefly and ended up tangled in a utility pole guy wire.

Dubois initially thought he had blown a tire, but all four tires were intact after the accident, police said. The roadway, however, did reportedly have ice and snow in spots.

Officer Nick Eastham estimated total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers.

* At 12:47 a.m. Monday, Amber Starr, 36, Greencastle, was ticketed on Bloomington Street by Officer Eastham.

Starr was cited for having an expired license plate (Oct. 28, 2014). She was also cited for having a false or fictitious registration.

Sheriff's Department

Five recent vehicular accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 10:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, Antjuan A. Banks, 21, Indianapolis, was westbound on Interstate 70 near the 44-mile marker in a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu when he went off the roadway after attempting to overtake a semi truck.

Banks advised Sgt. Gregg Slover that as he began to pass the semi in the left lane, the tractor trailer began to enter his lane for unknown reasons.

Banks slowed to avoid a collision and lost control of the vehicle, leaving the south side of the roadway, hitting the median and going on to hit a tree head-on.

No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1., Sara M. Link, 23, Paragon, was westbound on State Road 42 in a 2003 Dodge Neon when she lost control of the car going into a curve in the road and struck a tree.

Investigating officer Sgt. Gregg Slover estimated damage at $2,501`-$5,000.

* At 6:23 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1., investigating officer Dep. Tyler Turner responded to a wrecked 2005 Dodge Magnum that had been found upside-down on its top.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Hendricks County and it was unknown who the driver was or how long the vehicle had been there.

Damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.

* At 12:01 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2., Ian C. Garner, 25, Clinton, was westbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 475 East in a 2006 Chevrolet HHR when he lost traction, crossed the center line and made contact with a concrete bridge barrier with the front-left of the vehicle.

Garner suffered minor facial trauma, complaining of pain in the nose area and was transported to Hendricks Regional Health for further attention.

Investigating officer Dep. Kyle Gibbons noted extensive front-end damage, and disabling, collateral damage throughout the vehicle due to multiple impacts. The vehicle was towed from the accident scene with damage estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 8:46 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, Tristan D. McCullough, 28, Greencastle, was southbound on CR 400 South in a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt when he lost control due to icy conditions.

McCullough entered the ditch and hit a plastic phone tower, causing minor damage to the vehicle and the phone tower.

Investigating officer Sgt. Craig Sibbitt estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed seven lift assists, four medical assists and responded to numerous dispatches recently.

* At 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28; 7:05 p.m. Jan. 29; 7:03 p.m. Jan. 30 and 7:09 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, GFD was called to 1 W. Seminary St. for a fire code complaint regarding a door.

* At 11:31 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, GFD responded to 800 S. College Ave. for an odor investigation. After an air monitor was performed, no gas or cause for the odor was discovered.

* At 2:33 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive for a fire alarm triggered by cooking on the third floor.

* At 6:23 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1401 E. County Rd. 225 S. but upon arrival, no persons were at the crash site.

* At 12:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, GFD was called to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm that was due to a burning candle.
