PUTNAMVILLE -- During a routine traffic stop Wednesday night on Interstate 70 in western Putnam County, a 42-year-old Michigan woman was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.

The incident unfolded, police said, when Trooper Yan Dravigne pulled over a red 2000 Nissan for speeding and reportedly driving left of center at 9:17 p.m.

The driver, Christanine Brodis, of Detroit, Mich., was eastbound on I-70 near the 37-mile marker, four miles west of Cloverdale.

Further investigation found the driver was wanted out of the state of Nebraska for failing to comply with sex offender registry.

The original charge against Brodis was second-degree criminal sexual conduct, State Police reported.

Brodis was lodged in the Putnam County Jail Wednesday night to await transport to Nebraska.
