Republic's city trash routes delayed by mechanical issue

Due to a mechanical issue, Republic Services will not have a Greencastle trash truck available until Monday at the earliest.

The truck was towed to a repair shop, Republic officials said, and should be fixed over the weekend

"Please let the residents know we are going to do our best to get caught up throughout the week," Scottie McDonough of Republic told city officials in an email.

Plans are for the driver to start on Friday's trash on Monday and then continue on to Monday's trash route.

After he gets that finished he will go back and start on Friday's recyclables followed by Monday's.

"This cycle will be repeated until we get caught up," McDonough said.

Republic expects to be caught up Wednesday or Thursday.

"If possible, I am going to try and get another driver and truck for the area," he added. "With the surrounding areas already running at least a day behind it will be near impossible. I apologize for the delays and confusion."
