Boys' sectional draw: GHS plays Danville with Clovers, Eagles rematch

The 2015 boys' basketball IHSAA state tournament and pits Cloverdale and South Putnam against each other in the first round of the Speedway sectional on Wednesday, March 4.

Playing after Speedway and Covenant Christian, Cloverdale will be looking to complete the three-game sweep of the Eagles (3-18, 1-3 WCC), having beaten them decisively in their previous two meetings.

Cloverdale (19-5, 4-0 WCC) fared well against Covenant Christian, beating them 65-61 in January. While 3-0 in sectional matchups Speedway is only 9-11 overall.

North Putnam will take on Monrovia in the first round on Tuesday, March 3.

In the previous meeting between the two, Monrovia got the better of the Cougars (3-17, 1-3 WCC) winning 54-56. The winner of that match will face Cascade, who drew a first-round bye.

In the 3A Danville sectional Greencastle will play Danville in the only first-round game of the sectional on Tuesday, March 3. Greencastle (12-10 2-2 WCC) will be looking for a different result against the Warriors who narrowly escaped with a 58-57 victory over the Tiger Cubs on Jan. 2.

The winner of that match will go on to play Indian Creek on the following Friday March 6 after a Tri-West and Beech Grove semifinal match.
