Flossie Fern Whitley

Flossie Fern Whitley 99, of Roachdale, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Mill Pond Health Campus at Greencastle.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1915 at Cloverdale to Emery and Flossie Cox Sutherlin.

She graduated from the Cloverdale High School in 1934.

On Sept. 13, 1935 she married Oral Whitley in Greencastle, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

She was a member of the Haw Creek Church of Christ.

As well as being a wife and mother, she worked for Wilson's Greenhouse, as a cook at Roachdale Elementary and was a caregiver for 10 years.

Surviving are two sons, John (Joyce) Whitley of Roachdale, and Jack (Shirley) Whitley of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one daughter, Ila Kay (Tom) Long of Ladoga; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Florence Stanage of Harmony.

Her parents, husband and one granddaughter, Connie Delane Whitley, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery.
