CLOVERDALE -- A chili dinner, Bobbie Lancaster's singing, a purse auction with local auctioneer, Jeff Rich

That's all being planned Saturday, March 7 for the Center for Women's Ministries inaugural Chili Dinner and Purse Auction from noon to 2 p.m. at the Cloverdale United Methodist Church.

Cindy Spieth and Julie Goss display some of the many items to be placed in purses or available for silent auction during the Saturday, March 7 Center for Women's Ministries Chili Dinner and Purse Auction.

Events of the afternoon include chili, $5 for all you can eat, $2.50 for children 10 and under; music by Bobbie Lancaster; and a fun auction of many name brand purses (including 31) with interesting treasures inside

Among the items to be auctioned will be an hour-long flight over Greencastle, a stereo system, beauty items, scarves and more. We encourage everyone to attend and support this exciting event.

Jeff Rich will conduct the auction as well as give his testimony. Lancaster, local singer and songwriter, will bless everyone with her voice and also share her testimony. Both will share recent trials and exciting experiences.

The event is an effort to raise funds to support the activities and programs of the Center for Women's Ministries in Putnam County.

The "third Saturday of the month" garage sales at the Center provide a small income which allows the Center to meet basic financial needs.

The Center is a 501(c)3 organization which has been serving women for more than 25 years. There are many Centers throughout Indiana, including those in Cloverdale and Greencastle serving as strong components of these communities. Services of the Center include girls' clubs, Christ-centered Bible studies, support groups, and free peer counseling for women by volunteers who have undergone 40 plus hours of training.

The Center is hoping to meet more of the community and answer any questions about the organization and activities. Volunteers will be on hand to serve the food, share information on the Center and its work, and make the purse auction a fun event.

Anyone having questions about the event or the work of the Center for Women's Ministries may contact the office located at 404 N. Main, Cloverdale, or call 765-795-6774.
