Fireside Chat series under way at Mill Pond Health Campus

Thursday, March 12, 2015

A series of Fireside Chats, showcasing not only the diversity of the Greencastle community but also the generous nature of local citizens are taking place at the Mill Pond Health Campus, 1014 Mill Pond Lane, Greencastle.

The most reason "Chat" showcased John Bean's knowledge of guitar building. Bean has been building violins for 14 years.

He brought along Erica Dicker, professor of music at DePauw University who played a series of violins for the audience in order to showcase how important the right materials and care of carpentry are to achieving the correct sound when played.

Past "Fire Side Chats" have showcased Pam Overton's mission work and local folk music group "The Fret Set."

These "chats" are held in a casual atmosphere with the intention of furthering the residents' knowledge about others in the Greencastle community which will hopefully contribute to an overall sense of connection and belonging. An added benefit just may well be that the continued introduction to new information and ideas could help to keep brains healthier, longer, Mill Pond officials suggested.
