County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 10:10 a.m., Joseph Thomas Nieder, 26, Indianapolis, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

* At 3:55 p.m., Donald Ray Evans, 32, Greencastle, was charged with domestic battery and probation violation.

* At 7:50 p.m., Jeffrey Raymond Brown, 36, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for disorderly conduct and probation violation.

* At 11:05 p.m. Robert Joe Delano, 30, Terre Haute, was booked in for driving with a

suspended license.

City Police

Greencastle City Police investigated an accident on the city's East Side Thursday afternoon.

* At 4:40 p.m., Bambi Barger, 35, Greencastle, was westbound, driving a 2002 Mazda, passing the driveway at 1111 Avenue C.

Meanwhile, Jana Hatfield, 36, Greencastle, was backing a 2004 Dodge Neon from that driveway and a collision occurred, Officer Darrel Bunten reported.

Hatfield told the officer she did not see the other car approaching due to utility workers fixing a water leak on the opposite side of the street.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Hatfield was cited by Officer Bunten for operating without financial responsibility (no insurance).

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed three medical assists and responded to several calls recently.

* At 3:18 a.m. Wednesday, GFD was called to 304 Mill Stone Point after receiving a call about strange smells. Firefighters performed an odor investigation but found no traces of its cause nor any dangerous odors.

* At 10:26 p.m. Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 750 S. Fillmore Rd. for a fire alarm that had been triggered by a malfunction.
