Rita M. Cabe

Rita M. Cabe, 73, of Greencastle, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

Rita was born in Detroit, Mich., on April 7, 1941 to Samuel and Lena (Bartol) DeNino.

Rita had been a secretary at Montezuma Elementary School and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Dautry F. Cabe, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1963; daughter Margaret Ann Burt; and granddaughter Heather Kelsey Cabe.

Surviving family include sons Sam (Lisa) Cabe of Danville and Brian (Marilee) Cabe of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter Joetta (Jack) Scanland II, of Greencastle; brothers Patrick DeNino of North Carolina and Joseph DeNino of South Carolina; sisters Mary Ann Kennedy of Nevada, June Ritter of Michigan and Kathy (Lyle) Gilbert of Michigan; grandchildren Derek (Lacey) McMillan, Skylar Long, Isaac (Candace) Green, Jacob Cabe, Leesa Vasilon, Dakota Cabe, Michael Cabe, Codey Cabe, Zachary Cabe, Hope Scanland and Trey Scanland as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
