Ag Day committee appreciates support

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

To the Editor:

"Agriculture: Sustaining Future Generations" was the theme celebrated at the 2015 Putnam County Ag Day event on Saturday, March 14 where families came together to learn about a farmer's everyday life.

Ag Day kicked off its festivities with an Ag Day Breakfast followed by a short program by Barry Fisher, State Soil Health Specialist and farmer.

Awards were also presented for Friend of the Farmer, Hall of Fame and Putnam County Farm Bureau's Ag Production in Putnam County Photo Contest.

Immediately following the program was the Mini-Farm Fest where families participated in hands-on activities and had the opportunity to interact with farm animals, sample milk, cheese and popcorn, view farm equipment, watch a movie in the new barn theater and much more.

Our goal of reaching out to teach the community of Putnam County about the importance of agriculture could not have been achieved without the help of our many sponsors and exhibitors, including: McDonald's, Putnam County Community Foundation, Putnam County Farm Bureau Inc., Almost Home, Burger King, Kroger, Putnam Inn, Subway, Farm Credit Mid-America, First Financial Bank, First National Bank, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, North Salem State Bank, Old National Bank, PNC Bank, Tri-County Bank and Putnam County Farm Bureau Insurance.

Also, Keegan Poe with "Chuck the Steer", Master Gardeners, South Putnam FFA Aquaculture Trailer, North Putnam FFA, Cloverdale FFA, Jason Keeney Family-poultry, Ivy Tech, Purdue Extension, Putnam County Museum, Humphrey's Outdoor Power, Bob Wehrman, Phyllis Legan, SWCD Sue Crafton, Putnam County Fair, Chandler's Fruit and Vegetable Farm, POET Ethanol Plant, Myers Market, Indiana Soybean Alliance, Chris Skillern FC Tucker Schneider Realty, Oliver Family Dairy Calf, York Automotive, MacAllister Machinery-Brian Gum, Dillon Sutherlin-sheep, Indiana Pork, American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., Putnam County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association, Emma Bayless-rabbits, Emmett Holsapple-goats, Greeson Farms-pigs, Bane Welker Equipment, Indiana Beef Cattle Association, Coffman Family Restored Tractor, AHW, Heavenly Springs Farm-Perkins Family and Co-Alliance Bainbridge, Kole Ames for devotions and the Ag Day planning committee.
