County Jail

Two individuals have been placed into the custody of the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:01 a.m. Friday, Brandy Lynn Turner, 41, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of trafficking inmate contraband, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and battery with bodily injury.

* At 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Nathan James Miles, 34, Roachdale, was booked on a charge of battery.

City Police

One recent traffic accident was investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Percy Julian Drive and East Washington Street.

Officer Ed Wilson reported that Sally Gross, 65, Greencastle, was eastbound on Washington Street, driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt.

She reportedly stopped at the stopsign at Percy Julian but proceeded into the intersection without seeing a southbound 2013 Chevrolet driven by Sandra Jackson, 55, Rockville.

The resulting collision caused an estimated $2,500-$5,000 damage, police said.

Gross was transported to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life ambulance complaining of pain.

Two recent citations were issued by Greencastle officers.

* At 4:29 a.m. Wednesday, Jason Benolkin, 34, Reelsville, was stopped at Berry Street and College Avenue by Officer Kyle Lee.

Benolkin was cited for having an expired license plate (expired Feb. 21).

* At 9:30 p.m. March 14, Jacob Clampitt, 33, Crawfordsville, was stopped on Indianapolis Road at the entrance to Family Video.

Clampitt was cited by Officer Matt Huffman for having an expired license plate (expired March 21, 2014).

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed two medical assists and responded to four other dispatches this week.

* At 6:26 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, the GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. to investigate a fire alarm. The alarm was set off due to a curling iron.

* At 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, the GFD was dispatched to 106 S. Spring St. to investigate a fire alarm. The alarm was set off due to cooking.

* At 4:07 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, the GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Franklin and Northwood Boulevard. The two-vehicle accident included injuries, and the department assisted with loading patients at the scene.

* At 7:33 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, the GFD was called to 1048 Avenue B for an odor investigation. Nothing was found.

* At 6:15 p.m., Thursday, March 19, the GFD was called to 7 E. Larabee for a fire alarm. The GFD helped with clean up.

* At 11:53 a.m., Friday, March 20, the GFD responded to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. The alarm was set off due to cooking.

* At 2:49 p.m., Friday, March 20, the GFD responded to 202 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. The alarm was accidentally set off by construction.
