County Jail

A number of people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Tara Marie Thompson, 32, Indianapolis, was arrested for theft.

At 11:26 a.m. Chad William Wilson, 39, Cloverdale, was charged with probation violation.

At 2:42 p.m. Clint Joseph Byrd, 18, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

At 10:20 p.m. William Shane Pierce, 38, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.

* At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Daniel Aron Bruce, 30, Terre Haute, was booked in for motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.

At 2:58 p.m. Johnathan Paul McNulty, 32, Greencastle, was charged with theft.

At 4:40 p.m. Dale Kary Williams, 38, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail or trafficking contraband with an inmate and probation violation.

At 6:20 p.m. Jessica Marie Burris, 26, Greencastle, was booked in for escape, possession of a controlled substance, theft and petition to revoke home detention.

* At 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, Roy Wayne Poynter Jr., 36, Bainbridge, was charged with battery.

* At 1:57 a.m. on Monday, Bradley Lee Cash, 56, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for battery on a law enforcement officer.

* At noon on Monday, Adam Edward Smith, 22, Russellville, was arrested for theft.

* At 9 p.m. Alex Mitchell Hardcastle, 26, Indianapolis, was booked into jail, charged with being a habitual traffic offender.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 3:13 a.m. Friday, William Baird, 57, Indianapolis, was arrested at the Greencastle Inn by Officer Matt Huffman.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, he was arrested for invasion of privacy stemming from a protective order.

* At 3:20 p.m. Friday, Barbara L. Hollingsworth, 34, Greencastle, was arrested at Putnam Plaza by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel.

Hollingsworth, who was booked into the Putnam County Jail, was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for dealing methamphetamine.

* At 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Justin Barger, 40, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee for public intoxication.

Taken into custody behind the Eagles Lodge off Elizabeth Street, Barger was taken to the Putnam County Jail, where he registered a .286 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing.

Meanwhile, two recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

* At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jessica McCullough, 23, Terre Haute, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Seipel.

Stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway, McCullough was ticketed for 58 mph in a 40-mph zone.

* At 3:41 a.m. Sunday, Delbert Boswell, 41, Fillmore, was stopped by Officer Lee.

Stopped at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue F, Boswell was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

* At 4:34 a.m. on Saturday, Donald R. Jellison Jr., 37, Greencastle, was on his way home to Dunbar Heights in a 2006 Ford F150.

Jellison told Deputy Mike Downing he swerved to miss several deer in the road, which caused the truck's front passenger side tire to leave the road. The truck then passed through a shallow ditch before hitting a tree head on, which caused the vehicle to flip onto the driver's side.

Jellison was able to pull himself out of the vehicle to wait for help to arrive.

He voluntarily told Downing that he had consumed several alcoholic beverages at a friend's house before driving home.

Both Greencastle Fire Department and Operation Life were called to the scene to attend to the driver's medical needs.

After the medics cleared Jellison, Downing took him to the jail for sobriety testing. He tested at .15 on the field sobriety test and at .12 on the certified test.

He was booked in at 7:20 a.m. for driving while intoxicated.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, Ryan E. Hyatt, 23, Indianapolis, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado.

Several witnesses told Sgt. Craig Sibbitt that Hyatt failed to stop at a red light at the U.S. 231 intersection.

Passing through the intersection, Hyatt's truck hit a 2015 Subaru hatchback driven southbound by Keith A. Willis, 65, Huntingburg. Hyatt's truck continued eastbound, hitting a Walmart transportation tractor trailer driven northbound by Ronald T. Falkner, 65, Greencastle.

Hyatt was injured in the accident and was taken from the scene by ambulance. Willis and he passenger were evaluated and released.

Falkner was uninjured.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, Logan P. Enlow, 18, Coatesville, had been stopped on County Road 150 North at the intersection with County Road 550 East in a 2003 Ford Windstar.

He told Deputy Matt Biggs he did not see anything approaching and he proceeded to turn left onto southbound 550 East.

However, Victoria A. Perry-Mullins was northbound on 550 East in a 2009 Ford Fusion. Her approach had been obscured by a hillcrest at a train crossing just south of the intersection.

As she topped the hill, Perry-Mullins saw Enlow's van in her path but could not avoid the collision.

No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:39 p.m. on Sunday, Erin E. Rolland, 22, Highland, was southbound on U.S. 231 near County Road 850 North when here 2003 Hyundai Sonata left the east side of the road.

Deputy Biggs estimated the car traveled 100 yards before hitting a tree and coming to an abrupt stop.

Biggs said Rolland had a contusion on her forehead and several minor cuts, yet she adamantly refused medical treatment.

Instead, a Roachdale Police officer took Rolland to Casey's General Store in Roachdale to wait for her ride.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to one medical assist and numerous dispatches recently.

* At 4:43 a.m., Sunday, March 22, the GFD was called to 351 N. CR 75W, for a motor vehicle accident with no injury. The department assisted with clean-up.

* At 7:26 p.m., Sunday, March 22, the GFD was called to 5808 W. CR 25N to assist Madison Township Fire Department with a barn fire.

* At 1 a.m., Monday, March 23, the GFD was called to 9480 N. Meridian Line Rd. in Roachdale to assist with a structure fire.

* At 12:02 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, the GFD responded to 102 W. Poplar St. to assist Operation Life.

* At 2:18 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, the GFD responded to 1109 S. Indiana St. at Hickory Creek to assist Operation Life.
