Small town seminar program set for Thursday at City Hall

Sunday, April 5, 2015

An appearance by nationally known consultant Marc Willson is scheduled for Thursday, April 9 at City Hall in Greencastle.

A series of three educational seminars, slated for 8-10 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m., will be sponsored by Main Street Greencastle, the City of Greencastle, Greencastle/Putnam County Development Center, the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and the West Central ISBDC.

Willson will conduct a day of seminars Thursday with area retail, restaurant and service businesses.

The 8-10 a.m. seminar -- "Doing Business in a GAFA (Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple) World" -- will focus on five "must-haves" for small businesses.

The 11 a.m.-1 p.m. seminar, "Team Eventacular," will address local events as a mainstay of small towns and how merchants need to take advantage of a "bountiful influx" of potential customers.

A box lunch will be provided during the second seminar.

The day's final session, set for 1:30-3:30 p.m, will address restauraterurs and such ideas as "the experience is twice as important as the food," what customers want and marketing and promotions.

Willson brings 35 years of experience assising small businesses in refining and promoting their concepts to the public.

Putnam County merchants are able to attend for free, due to the local community push of helping all county merchants be successful.

To register for one or all seminars, persons are asked to call Tami VanRensselaer 653-2427 by 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 to reserve a spot.

Seminars are also being conducting in Rockville on Tuesday, April 7 so that five different seminars can be offered in a close driving distance.
