Solar farm discussion slated for Monday

Thursday, April 16, 2015

The North Putnam Community School Corporation will hold a special meeting to discuss and possibly approve the construction of a solar farm that would aim to provide the school with net-zero energy usage.

The project that will be discussed involves Johnson-Melloh Solutions, the same company providing the extensive remodel throughout North Putnam schools. The company has installed numerous solar farms, including at other schools in the state of Indiana, their own headquarters in Indianapolis and the solar farm at the Indianapolis International Airport among others.

The project is not set to raise taxes nor result in the school seeking additional bonds because, as an energy-based project, the school could utilize funds that have already been set aside for energy consumption to pay for the creation of the solar farm, if it were to be approved by the board.

The public is encouraged to attend the special meeting to ask questions, voice opinions and learn more about the potential project.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20 at the NPCSC administrative office, located at 300 N. Washington St. in Bainbridge.
