33rd annual Mountain Man Rendezvous set for April 25-26

BRIDGETON -- The 33rd annual Mountain Man Rendezvous is scheduled for April 25-26 at Bridgeton in Parke County from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The event offers a taste of authentic early 1800s living in a historic setting. Walk through the Mountain Man encampment and see trading posts and pioneer goods for sale. Watch live black powder muzzle loader shooting, a canoe race on Raccoon Creek, and knife and tomahawk throwing demonstrations.

There will be pioneer crafters at work, including the Hoosier Heritage Spinners and Weavers, woodworkers and bowl carvers, and plenty of authentic old-time activities for kids.

The Bridgeton Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a Jonah Fish Fry Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at the new firehouse.

The Bridgeton Grist Mill will be open for a live 1800s corn-grinding demonstration and don't forget to take a stroll through the Bridgeton Covered Bridge.

No admission is charged to any of these events.
