Stacie Langdon, 407 Fawn View Lane, is seeking the Second Ward seat on the Greencastle City Council in the May 5 city primary election.

Langdon, 51, said she has been proud to call Greencastle home the last dozen years.

"I am proud to be a member of this community," she said. "I enjoy living in a small town and find it refreshing to see familiar faces every day. "

Originally from Hanover, Pa., Langdon is a 1985 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science.

"I believe in integrity, accountability and involvement,"the candidate said. "If something is working well, let's celebrate it. If something is not working, let's dig in, get involved and find solutions.

"The city of Greencastle has been blessed with strong leadership over the years," Langdon added. "These same leaders have shown vision for the future most recently evidenced by the success of the Stellar Grant program. As the city of Greencastle looks to add new positions to the common council, I feel this is an opportunity to have a voice in the community I love."

Langdon is currently employed as assistant branch manager with Old National Bank, having worked for the bank for 11 years.

She considers herself "very much a number person."

"I believe in paying attention to the details, staying balanced and maintaining set budgets," Langdon explained. "Credits and debits are my life. My job is not only about banking but about building trust and lasting relationships."

In 2013 she became a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greencastle, noting that the civic organization is "dedicated to helping children in our community."

She and her husband are members of First Baptist Church where she teaches an elementary Sunday school class and serves on the Memorial Endowment Committee. Previously she served as chairman of the Christian Education Board and has helped with vacation Bible school each summer.

Her husband, Rick Langdon, is a small business owner who co-founded the company Cougar Bag Inc. 22 years ago. It is located in Mooresville. Their 14-year-old son, Alex Johnson (AJ), attends Greencastle schools and is currently a member of the wrestling and baseball teams. He is also actively involved with the First Baptist youth group.

"Greencastle has many opportunities to offer local residents," Langdon noted. "It is a wonderful place to work and raise a family. There are many city-sponsored activities in which residents, young and old, may participate throughout the year. It would be a great honor to represent the residents of the Second Ward as a member of the 2016 Greencastle City Council."
