Cougars run with Athenians

When the North Putnam girls' track team ran its scheduled meet at home Thursday against Crawfordsville it was without its Putnam County rival Greencastle who had many track team members on a band trip.

North Putnam and Crawfordsville faced off alone with the visitors just edging out the Lady Cougars.

Emily O'Neal's long jump took first place with an increased distance of 14-8. O'Neal also took first place in the 100 and 200-meter.

She was also on the winning 4x1 relay team with Chevelle Tallman, Anita Spencer and Shelby Fry.

Sweeping the 800-meter run for North Putanam was Alanna Nunez, Abby Spencer and Emilee Henninger with first, second and third respectively.

4x800 - Abby Spencer/Henninger/Springmeyer/Nunez ran a 12:38 to place 2nd.

100High Hurdles - Cooke and Walker took 3rd (17.38) and 4th (18.51)

100 - O'Neal won with a time of 13.54. Lowe took 4th (14.00)

1600 - Abby Spencer, Carney, and Detro placed 2nd (6:45), 3rd (7:18), and 4th (7:41)

400 - Lowe, Tallman, and Rambis were 2nd (1:08), 3rd (1:13), and 4th (1:16)

4x100 - Team of Fry/Tallman/Cooke/O'Neal received top honors (55.86) winning by 4 one hundredths of a second!

300hurdles - Walker placed 2nd (54.18) while Cooke placed 3rd (59.24)

800 - Nunez, Abby Spencer, and Henninger swept the 800. 1st (2:58), 2nd (3:09.34), 3rd (3:09.71)

200 - O'Neal was 1st (29.24), while Clodfelter took 4th (32.02)

3200 - Springmeyer and Carney were 3rd (16:09) and 4th (16:33)

4x400 - 2nd (4:55) Tallman/Nunez /Lowe/Fry

Shot Put - Millican placed 1st (31' 3") followed by Evans in 2nd (27' 10")

Discus - Parent took 1st (78') while Vogt took 4th (74' 7")

Long Jump - O'Neal was 1st (14' 8")

High Jump - Anita Spencer tied for 2nd (4')
