CHS baseball team drops two to WCC rivals

CLOVERDALE -- CHS' baseball team fell twice at the hands of WCC rival Cascade both on Monday and Tuesday.

Cloverdale played well at times during its first game against conference rival Cascade Monday, according to coach Jarrod Duff. But the Clovers fell 5-2 at home. The second was more one-sided with Cascade wining 7-1.

CHS scored a run in both the third and fourth, however Cascade scored in each the second and fourth and then scored three runs in the sixth inning to secure its win.

"I thought we played really well (Monday night)," Duff said. "Cascade is a good ball club. We just made a few too many little mistakes. There are things that we have talked to these guys about. We just have to fix a few mistakes."

Brantson Scott and Duke Duff earned an RBI each and Duff and well as Joey Martin each earned a hit.

"This was a fun game to be a part of," Duff said. "We felt good going into the sixth inning tied 2-2. We just made a few too many mistakes to win a close game against a quality baseball team. Brayden pitched well tonight. Defensively, we made some plays, but we also had some costly mistakes. They took advantage of those mistakes. So, I have to give Cascade credit for that."

In the second game White scored the only run for CHS and Haiden Harbert-Davis earned two hits. Cloverdale just couldn't get the ball rolling at the plate.

Cloverdale (8-7) plays Linton at home on Thursday.
