CLOVERDALE -- On Monday North Putnam's Golf team made the trek to Clover Meadows to face county rival Cloverdale in the breezy weather. The Cougars took the road win against the Clovers 178-192.

North Putnam's Jake Holtze was the low man on the evening shooting a 40, four better than anyone on the course. Kylar Galloway and Freddy Fislar notched a 44 and 45 respectively.

"I don't think either coach was particularly happy with the scores, I probably less so than Coach Patrick," CHS coach Doug Wokoun said. "The wind was challenging once again, and the temperature was a little cool, but those are conditions we have to learn to cope with."

North Putnam had three golfers, Danny Smith, Preston Porter and Logan Grim, score 46 with Austin Judy scoring a 47. Emmett Holsapple rounded the scoring for the Cougars, shooting a 49.

Zach Nichols was the only other Clover shooting under 50 with a score of 49. Cloverdale's Drew Boyette, Zarek Wellington and Chase Snyder scored 54, 54, and 59 respectively.

"Kylar and Freddy both battled through rough patches, but ended up OK," Wokoun said. "Zach showed improvement at times, but after that we did not have a good day. We missed Rylan Mattocks for the second match in a row, and we are really missing his leadership and scoring."

Cloverdale (4-2) hosts Plainfield and Greencastle on Thursday. North Putnam will golf at the Greencastle invitational on Saturday.
