Kiwanis SpringFest event set for May 9 at Moose Lodge

The Kiwanis Club of Greencastle will sponsor its second annual SpringFest on the morning of Saturday, May 9 at the Greencastle Moose Lodge.

Kiwanis also will be hosting its 56th annual Pancake Breakfast. Cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat pancakes from 7-11 a.m.

The First Christian Church Christian Women's Fellowship will be offering homemade baked goods at its bake sale from 8 a.m. until noon.

The Ladies of the Moose will be offering children's games with prizes and facepainting. Greencastle Fire Department's Sparky the Fire Dog will be there, as will one of the fire trucks.

Entertainment will be provided all morning, including Bryan Langdoc and Bobbi Lancaster; Chris Wurster and company; Covered Bridge Harmony; and Denise Thede.

The Moose Lodge is on Madison Street between Washington and Franklin streets, west of the Courthouse Square.

Kiwanis is an international service organization that focuses on the needs of children and communities.

The local club was formed in 1921, only six years after the first Kiwanis Club was formed in Detroit. It meets each Thursday at noon at the Inn at DePauw.

Local efforts include Riley Hospital for Children, Reality Experience for all Putnam County eighth-graders, North Putnam and Greencastle Key Clubs, DePauw Circle K, bicycle rodeo at National Night-Out in August and scholarships. All are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more.
