Wally Hinkle in bid for at-large seat on GOP ticket

Friday, May 1, 2015

Clyde Wallace (Wally) Hinkle is offering his life and professional experience to represent and serve Greencastle citizens as an at-large candidate for City Council on the Republican ticket in the May 5 primary election.

Hinkle, 72, considers himself semi-retired, following cessation of his corporate architect position/practice (Crawfordsville) in the winter of 2010. He was then employed as a retail representative, servicing a national paint company's local retail outlets until spring 2014.

Hinkle began his architectural career as an apprentice draftsman following graduation from a technical high school in Charleston, W.Va., and concluded it as a corporate architect, licensed to practice in 20 states.

His architectural career was varied with projects ranging in size from "residential closet remodel" to "28-story office high rise" and included residential, religious, educational, commercial and industrial buildings types.

Hinkle, 926 N. Madison St., has lived in Greencastle for nearly 24 years. He, his wife, Sharon and two children relocated to Greencastle, his wife's hometown, from Phoenix, Ariz., in the summer of 1991.

He and his wife are committed to attendance and participation in their local church activities. They are grandparents of five grandchildren.

"When the weather is agreeable enough," he enjoys working outdoors on landscaping and all sorts of lawn maintenance and gardening tasks.

Other activities he enjoys include spending time with family, playing table games and reading. His reading choices are occasionally unconventional as he "once was accused of using building codes and zoning ordinances as light reading."
