Walmart Foundation awards grants to 10 local organizations

Ten local organizations have been awarded a Walmart Foundation Community Grant for the first quarter of 2015.

The grants were provided upon the recommendation of the local Greencastle Walmart Distribution Center and Transportation Office after its review of the needs in the local community.

Local organizations receiving community grants are:

-- Friends of the Greencastle Fire Department, $1,000.

-- Hope's Way Inc., $1,000.

-- Mary Allison's Children's Trust, $1,000.

-- Cloverdale High School Post Prom, $750.

-- North Putnam Sr. High School Post Prom, $750.

-- South Putnam High School Post Prom, $750.

-- Putnam County Mental Health Association, $725.

-- Cunot Community Center, $500.

-- Putnam County 4-H Archery Club, $250.

-- South Putnam Youth Football League, $250.

Any organization that did not receive a first-quarter grant may reapply starting May 2 to be considered for Walmart's second-quarter grant cycle.
