Eagle track, field team travels to Monrovia

MONROVIA -- South Putnam's track team took a tough loss Thursday at Monrovia. The boys lost 95-37, while the girls lost 84-48.

On the boys' end Timmy Parker took a victory in the long jump with 18-11.

Kieffer Vitetow, with a time of 10:31.38 took first place in the 3200 while Berent Freeman ran second. Freeman also picked up a win in the 1600-meter run.

Logan Vandermark earned first place in the 800-meter.

The Lady Eagles won a fair share of events, including the 4x800 but not enough to run Monrovia down in the points.

Deborah Cheatham took the win in the high jump with a jump of 4-9. Madie Egold and Ariel Higgins were the workhorses as usual, each winning their signature runs.

Egold took first in the 1600 and 3200-meter. Higgins won in both the 300 and 100 meter runs.

Eagles fans can next see South Putnam at home on Monday against Rockville.
