CLOVERDALE -- The bats came to life Thursday night for the Cloverdale baseball team, overcoming a rough outing for starting pitcher Brantson Scott on the way to an 8-6 win over White River Valley.

Scott got the nod on the mound, but struggled out of the gate, throwing just five strikes in 17 pitches. The senior gave up three runs while failing to record an out.

Duke Duff relieved his teammate and was solid in six innings pitched, surrendering three runs on four hits and four walks.

At the plate, Haiden Herbert-Davis led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Joey Martin also had a pair of hits and two RBI. Josiah Watson drove in two Clover runs, and Tyce Jackson added an RBI.

Duff, Brayden White and Scott all had hits for Cloverdale, with Scott scoring two runs.

The Clovers host Turkey Run at 5 p.m. Monday.
