Playhouse slates 'Bad Seed' auditions

Auditions for the suspense drama "The Bad Seed" have been scheduled. It will be the second production of the 2015 season at Putnam County Playhouse.

Director Jack Randall Earles will have two sessions of auditions. The first is at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17. The second will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 18. Both sessions will be in the rehearsal center of the Hazel Day Longden Theatre, located off Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

"The Bad Seed" will be produced July 9-11 and 15-18. It is being sponsored by Rossok & Co. and Pekin Insurance.

Roles to be cast include Christine Penmark a woman in her 30s or 40s, and her daughter Rhoda whose stage age is 8-10 years old. Actresses with some experience are preferred for these characters.

Other roles include Monica Breedlove, the upstairs neighbor; Miss Fern, a local school teacher; Reggie Tasker, a mystery writer; and Leroy, the handyman who discovers Rhoda's secret.

Supporting roles include Mrs. Daigle, a woman who suffers a tragedy; Mr. Daigle, her husband; Richard Bravo, Christine's father; Kenneth Penmark, Christine's husband; and Emery, who is Monica's brother.

The 2015 Putnam County Playhouse season will open with the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," scheduled for June 4-6 and June 10-13.
