City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 7:52 p.m. May 7, Eric Billings, 29, Greencastle, was arrested at the Wendy's restaurant on Indianapolis Road by Officer Kyle Lee.

Billings was reportedly observed in possession of a controlled substance with the drugs and cash seen on a restaurant table by an off-duty law enforcement who notified GPD.

When Officer Lee entered the restaurant, the suspect reportedly tried to hide by a southwest corner table, police reported.

Billings was apprehended while reportedly in possession of a controlled substance similar to Xanax.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, he faces charges of possession of a controlled substance.

* At 8:50 a.m. May 6, Travis Gray, 25, Greencastle, was arrested at a West Berry Street residence for domestic battery in the presence of a minor child.

Gray, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, is also facing charges of criminal recklessness and criminal mischief, according to Officer Ed Wilson's report.

Gray's blood-alcohol content, under portable breathalyzer testing, registered .10 percent, police said. However, he was not charged with public intoxication because he was at a private residence.

One property-damage accident was investigated recently by city officers.

* At 10:45 a.m. May 8, the minor mishap occurred on the Walmart superstore parking lot as Virginia Hodge, 61, Cloverdale, backed her 2014 Chevrolet Malibu from a parking space.

As she backed away from the space, another vehicle reportedly drove around her and pulled into the spot she had just vacated, distracting Hodge, Officer Albert Epple reported.

That caused Hodge to back her car into a parked 2007 Buick Lucerne, owned by Roger Riggen, Bainbridge, who was in the store when the accident occurred.

Total damage was estimated by Officer Epple at $2,500-$5,000.

Sheriff's Department
