Final asphalt coat due for city parking lots Tuesday

Monday, May 18, 2015

The permanent asphalt is scheduled to be applied to the new City of Greencastle parking lot surfaces on Tuesday, May 19, weather permitting.

After that there will be a waiting period (length of time to be determined) before the striping is put down on the lots.

"As a result," Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray announced Friday, "we are going to have to prohibit parking in both lots on Tuesday, and be a bit understanding of the parking confusion it may cause for downtown workers."

Overnight parking on the lots Monday is discouraged since the lots will be barricaded as of 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The two new parking lots are located along Market Street (between Washington and Franklin), a block west of the square, and on a site bounded by South Indiana, West Walnut and South Jackson streets, a block south of the square.
