VFW Auxiliary gives $5,600 to Cancer Center

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1550 recently donated $5,600 to the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center following a March 13 fundraiser at the post.

Rhonda McCammack and Becky Hutcheson of the PCH Cancer Center recently visited the VFW to accept the check from members of the auxiliary.

The March festivities included an auction featuring items donated by local businesses, a dessert auction, a pulled pork dinner and a 50/50 drawing.

The funds are to go to any person receiving cancer treatments and are in need of financial assistance.

This was the third annual fundraiser for the Cancer Center, on the heels of raising $2,500 in 2013 and $3,500 in 2014.

"This year was just short of my personal goal of $6,000 but we are all so very pleased at the generosity of everyone that donated items or their time," Auxiliary President Kelly Knoblett said. "Hopefully, next year will be even better."
