County Jail

Nine individuals have been placed into the custody of the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 3 p.m. Friday, Jared Lee Hornaday, 25, Fillmore, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

* At 9 p.m. Friday, Joel P. Ford, 48, Avon, was arrested on a charge of battery with bodily injury.

* At 11:50 p.m. Friday, Julio Roblero Mejia, 26, Cloverdale, was arrested on a warrant.

* At 12:20 p.m. Saturday, Joseph Dominicus Ott, 31, Cloverdale, was arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

* At 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dustin Shannon, 27, Cloverdale, was arrested on charges of battery, domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

* At 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Toni Marie O'Sullivan, 38, Reelsville, was arrested on a warrant for theft.

* At 3:42 a.m. Sunday, Dylan Basil Sheldon, 22, Greencastle, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.

* At 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Justin Wayne Lewis, 25, Rockville, was arrested for a probation violation.

* At 12:30 p.m. Monday, William Jarrel Votzie, 40, Indianapolis, was arrested for failure to appear.

* At 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dustin James Stouder, 34, Greencastle, was arrested for a probation violation.

* At 6:11 p.m. Monday, Mika Levi Hayes, 19, Greencastle, was arrested on a charge of theft.

* At 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Robert Dale Barger, 30, Fillmore, was arrested on a probation violation.

* At 1:29 a.m Tuesday, Nathaniel Blake Butler, 18, Roachdale, was arrested on two counts of theft, burglary and criminal conversion.

City Police

A 23-year-old Greencastle woman was arrested by City Police officers Monday after first fleeing from local law enforcement.

* Arrested at 9 a.m. by Capt. Chris Jones, Chelsea Gallagher was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for resisting law enforcement. She was also held on a Putnam County warrant for three counts of theft.

The situation unfolded as Gallagher was reportedly seen walking up an East Seminary Street driveway and taking a license plate off a vehicle parked there.

When confronted by Capt. Jones, however, she ignored his pleas to stop and instead ran through nearby yards before attempting to hide in a trash container at a residence near Walnut and Arlington streets.

One other arrest was reported by city officers recently.

* At 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Ashleigh D. Karrish, 32, Greencastle, was arrested at the Dollar General on Indianapolis Road on Greencastle's East Side on charges of theft and illegal possession of syringes.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Karrish reportedly put items totaling $4.82 in her purse while inside the store, Officer Darrel Bunten reported.

Karrish allegedly tried to shoplift a package of gel pens, valued at $2; a designer notepad, valued at $1; and a notebook, priced at $1.50.

The suspect told police she knew she put the items in her purse but she did not intend to steal them.

Sheriff's Department

* At 8:06 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, Jacob M. Gibson was attempted to park his 1999 Dodge Ram at 205 Market St., but as he entered the space he struck a parked 2002 Chrysler Sebring owned by Robin A. Mitchell, of Cloverdale.

Deputy Adam Hull estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 3:53 p.m. Monday, May 11, Bruce K. Anderson, 60, Coatesville, was driving a 2001 Ford F250 when he collided with Cameron I. Erskine Pike, 16, Bainbridge, driving a 2000 Dodge Ram.

Anderson advised Deputy Hull the other driver pulled out in front of him, and he was unable to stop before hitting him.

Pike advised he was stopped at the stopsign and saw Anderson engage his turn signal and pulled into the roadway. He struck the other vehicle when Anderson did not turn.

* At 3:48 p.m. Friday, May 15, Matthew R. Robbins, of Coatesville, advised Deputy Hull that when he exited the Dollar General Store in Bainbridge his 2009 Chevrolet Impala had been backed into.

Charles Moore, 80, of Bainbridge was located at his residence and advised he did not think he had hit the vehicle.

* At 12:23 p.m. Saturday, Mark A. Proctor, 52, of Crawfordsville, advised Capt. Tom Helmer he was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix when he observed a northbound vehicle travel left of the center line.

Proctor swerved right to avoid a collision, drove off the road and went down an embankment. The front end of his vehicle struck a ditch causing the airbag to deploy and traveled another 60 feet before coming to a stop.

Proctor was unable to exit the vehicle. He complained of back and neck pain, and was transported to the Putnam County Hospital emergency room via Operation Life.

The vehicle that crossed the center line, a 2004 Chevrolet Tracker being test driven by Jennifer Keller, advised she was following a vehicle that "slammed on his brakes" to turn onto County Road 500N. She swerved to avoid a collision, causing her to cross the center line.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 12:36 p.m. Saturday, Paige B. Cullison, 26, Bainbridge, told Deputy Hull she was traveling on County Road 25 West when she hit something in the road in her 2006 Dodge Stratus.

This caused her to leave the road on the right side and travel through a yard at 5690 N. County Road 25 West before hitting a large stump and coming to a stop.

Cullison complained of pain in her leg from the airbag. She was treated and released from Operation Life at the scene. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Kayle D. Coltharp, 18, Brazil, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 1998 Toyota Corolla when she started sliding due to wet pavement.

She told Capt. Helmer she swerved right to avoid a utility pole on the west side of the road. Helmer noted in the report the skid marks indicated the driver traveled across both lanes before sliding into a yard.

Coltharp struck a Putnam County Highway Department sign and came to rest on top of the sign. Damage was estimated at $1,001- $2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with one medical run and responded to several other dispatches recently.

* At 10:24 p.m. Friday, GFD responded to a report of a downed power line at 9 W. Sunset Dr. The service line was down in the tree on the resident's property. Duke Energy was notified of the issue.

* At 10:48 p.m. Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at the Putnam County Jail located at 13 Keightly Rd. The alarm was caused by burnt food.

* At 3:45 p.m. Saturday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 414 S. Indiana St. It was determined the alarm was caused by a water leak on the second floor into the first floor detector.

* At 8:49 p.m. Saturday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 415 Anderson St. Steam from a shower caused the alarm.

* At 3:02 p.m. Monday, GFD responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the intersection of Indiana and Seminary streets. An extinguisher was used to put out a small fire.

* At 11:49 a.m. Tuesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. No issue was found.
