Susan Ann (Miller) Baker, 49, of Greencastle, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 following a horse riding accident.

She was born March 8, 1966, in Clay County, the daughter of Joseph and Lois (Bennett) Miller.

Susan graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1984.

Susan attended St. Mary's of the Woods for a short time before earning her Bachelor's of Nursing degree from IUPUI and later she earned a Master's Degree in nursing education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She worked at Putnam County Hospital as an emergency room and intensive care nurse. For the past several years she had been working at Roudebush V.A. Medical Center, in Indianapolis as a surgical intensive care nurse.

Susan was a free spirit who enjoyed spending time outdoors, swimming, riding and training horses, reading, decorating her home, watching movies and spending time with her grandson Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lois Miller, and two siblings, Tom Miller and Teresa Kline.

She is survived by her husband Michael D. Baker Jr., whom she married May 11, 2012; a daughter, Ashley (Treash) Shonk and husband Paul of Clay City; stepson Lane Baker of Brazil; grandson Hayden Shonk; siblings Wanda Tiefel, Janis Allee, Barbara Houk and Edward Miller as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family member and friends.

Services for Susan will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Pastor Larry Richmond officiating.

Burial will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery, Greencastle.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Clay County Humane Society.
