Norman W. Stewart, 89, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 surrounded by his family.

Norman was born on Dec. 16, 1925 in Greencastle to Jesse Ray Stewart and Eva Mae Vanlandingham Stewart.

He was a graduate of Greencastle High School, and a member of Fillmore Christian Church.

Mr. Stewart honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Norman retired from IBM Corp. with 25 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Imogene Kimura; two brothers, Conrad Stewart and Gaylord Stewart; and a beloved grandson, Terry Stewart.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Betty R. Saathoff Stewart; five children, Linda Mallory and husband Michael of Brownsburg, Craig Stewart and wife Gayle of Greencastle, Kent Stewart and wife Sharon of Phoenix, Ariz., Lisa Grimes and husband Jerry of Columbia, S.C., and Margie Ferguson and husband Mike of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Joan Shuck of Greencastle and Sandy Bible and husband Paul of Las Cruces, N.M.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Fillmore Christian Church with Pastor Mike Faust officiating.

Interment with U.S. Navy honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Norman loved cooking, and after retirement from IBM, found the passion of oil painting.

Memorials in Norman's name may be shared with Fillmore Christian Church.
