County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, Tonya Lynn Anderson, 30, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, theft and probation violation.

* At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Christopher Brian Taylor, 29, Greencastle, was booked in for reckless driving.

* At 11:05 p.m. Garry Dean Rigney Jr., 34, Greencastle, was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, parole violation and bond revocation.

City Police

A 25-year-old Montgomery County woman was arrested Thursday night after allegedly shoplifting nearly three dozen items after another woman reportedly offered her $50 to do so.

Hailey Tipton, of Crawfordsville, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. by Officer Matt Huffman after reportedly taking 34 items, valued at $257.51, from the Greencastle Walmart store.

She reportedly told Officer Huffman that earlier in the day, she had met a woman at the splash park in Greencastle and that the woman supposedly offered her $50 to steal arts and crafts supplies her daughter needed to complete a school project.

Tipton is accused for taking numerous arts and crafts items from Walmart. However, also taken in the incident were Nicki Minaj perfume, sunglasses, inexpensive jewelry items, a toothbrush and other personal hygiene products, a head wrap and a scarf.

Tipton reportedly put the items in her purse and attempted to leave Walmart without paying for them.

She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a theft charge.

* At 10:39 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Charles Inman made a pair of warrant arrests at the same South End residence.

Arrested at a Crown Street residence on a Marion County warrant to revoke probation was Donald Dixie, 34, Greencastle.

Arrested at the same location at the same time was Nicole Johnson, 29, Coatesville, who was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

Dixie and Johnson were both lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Meanwhile, three recent traffic citations were issued by City Police officers.

* At noon Wednesday, Amanda Dickinson-Newman, 33, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel.

Stopped on Albin Pond Road, she was cited for 53 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 6:06 p.m. May 20, Daymian Weist, 19, Greencastle, was given two citations by Officer Kyle Lee.

Stopped at North Jackson and Jacob streets, Weist was ticketed for being an operator never licensed and for operating a motor vehicle without proof of financial responsibility.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two dispatches recently.

* At 7:38 p.m. Thursday, GFD responded to a car accident with injuries at the intersection of Jackson Street and Shadowlawn Avenue. The fire department assisted Operation Life at the scene.

* At 11:11 a.m. Friday, GFD investigated a report of a gas leak at 582 E. County Road 200 South. Upon arrival, a small leak was found in the line going to the stove. The department shut off the gas to the house instructed the occupant to contact a repair man.
