County Jail

Twelve people have been booked into Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 7:13 a.m. Friday, Joseph Carl Hannel, 30, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of domestic battery, battery on a child and disorderly conduct.

* At 10:35 a.m. Friday, Samantha Jo Fisher, 32, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and neglect of a dependent.

* At 2:54 p.m. Friday, Jodi Lee Shrake, 32, Cloverdale, was arrested on a charge of theft.

* At 5:53 p.m. Friday, Cody Alan Duncan, 28, Reelsville, was arrested for failure to appear and driving while suspended.

* At 9:35 p.m. Friday, Antasia Cheyenne Gibson, 21, Danville, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, sale of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe.

* At 10:40 p.m. Friday, Nicholas Lee Boswell, 23, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Frederick Buttery, 40, Cloverdale, was arrested on a warrant for a traffic violation.

* At 12:55 a.m. Monday, Stanley Eugene McKinney, 33, Greencastle was arrested on a charge of criminal trespassing.

* At 8:50 a.m. Monday, Eric Robert Brenner, 27, Terre Haute, was arrested on a charge of operating without ever receiving license.

* At 10:20 a.m. Monday, David Edward Ford, 53, Brazil, was arrested on a warrant.

* At 3:40 p.m. Monday, Adrein Wayne Hilbert, 35, Cloverdale, was arrested for a probation violation.

*At 9 p.m. Monday, Gregory Lewis Nauman II, 32, Indianapolis, was arrested for invasion of privacy.

Sheriff's Department

* At 2:52 p.m. Friday, Jason C. Rock, 37, Crawfordsville, was traveling southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor.

Rock advised Deputy Mike Downing as he approached County Road 500 North a deer ran into his path. He was unable to avoid a collision and struck the deer.

Damage was estimated between $2,501 and $5,000. Rock was able to drive the vehicle to work.

* At 12:25 p.m. Friday, Gloria L. Chew, 59, Kokomo, was backing up in the parking lot of the Heritage Lake Marina in a 2007 Ford 500.

Chew advised Deputy Donnie Pettit she was unable to see the 2010 Honda Civic owned by Lucas L. McDowell of Indianapolis. She struck the vehicle in the passenger's side rear side.

Damage estimated between $2,501 and $5,000.

* At 5:22 p.m. Friday, Elliott G. Harris, 21, Greencastle, was stopped in a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville on County Road 525 East near U.S. 40 behind David B. Campbell, 48, of Plainfield, in a 2015 Kia Forte at a stop sign.

Harris advised Deputy Pettit his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, causing him to rear-end Campbell. Damage estimated between $1,001 and $2,500.

* At 3:04 a.m. Saturday, Ronald E. Brewer, 35, Terre Haute, was traveling on Interstate 70 in a 1996 Cadillac Deville near the 38 mile marker when he was cut off by a semi-tractor trailer.

Brewer advised Reserve Deputy Richard Lambert he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, crossed the concrete ditch and came to rest on the north side of the interstate. He was unable to provide additional information about the semi that entered his path.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene due to excessive damage. An estimate of damage was between $10,001 and $25,000. Brewer did not appear injured.

* At 11:25 a.m. Saturday, James Derringer, 68, Martinsville, was travel west in the right lane of U.S. 40 in a 1987 GM van. Sandra L. Buis, 28, Coatesville, was in the left lane traveling west in a 2002 Chrysler PT. Cruiser.

Derringer advised Deputy Pettit he was in the area searching for yard sales, moved into the left lane to make a U-turn and did not see Buis. Despite Buis veering to the left, the two vehicles collided.

Damage estimated between $5,001 and $10,000.

* At 2:10 p.m. Saturday, Samuel J. Fogle, 16, Greencastle, was traveling north on Manhattan Road in a 2001 Ford Ranger when he lost control of the vehicle due to wet pavement while rounding a curve.

Fogle advised Deputy Pettit the car rotated in a counter clockwise direction and traveled off the west side of the road, hit the ditch and rolled over several times.

Damage estimated between $2,501 and $5,000.

* At 3:16 p.m. Saturday, Jared M. Jernagan, 34, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching Interstate 70 in a 2002 Dodge Ram.

Jernagan told Capt. Danny Wallace he noticed traffic stopped at the light at the I-70 entrance but that he also saw the light had changed to green. He did not notice until too late that the traffic in front of him had not started moving and could not stop his vehicle due to the wet pavement.

Jernagan rear-ended a stopped 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Kyle T. Manion, 19, Cloverdale. This impact sent Manion's car into the rear end of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Wendell H. Stevenson, 69, Poland.

There was no damage to any of the vehicles. However, Laura K. Retisma, 44, Brazil, a backseat passenger in Stevenson's vehicle, told authorities she was suffering from neck pain. She was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life.

* At 7:21 p.m. Saturday, Jane P. Pefley, 64, Greencastle, was traveling north on U.S. 231 in a 1994 General Motors vehicle when a deer ran into her path near County Road 850 North.

Pefley advised Deputy Downing she was unable to stop and struck the deer, which caused damage to the front grill, radiator and hood.

Ploughe Wrecker Service removed the vehicle from the scene. Damage estimated between $2,501 and $5,000.

* At 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Robert G. St. John, 19, Cloverdale, was traveling south on S.R. 243 in a 1989 Ford F250 when he lost control rounding a corner due to wet pavement.

St. John advised Deputy Pettit he traveled off the east side of the road, into a ditch, rolled over and landed upside down in the ditch.

Damage estimated between $2,501 and $5,000.

* At 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Reanda R. Foltz, 18, Bainbridge, was traveling north on County Road 575 East in a 1998 Honda Civic when she swerved to avoid a vehicle pulling out of a driveway.

Foltz advised Deputy Pettit she drove off the east side of the road, overcorrected, lost control and rotated counter clockwise, traveling off the east side of the road a second time and struck a pole.

Damage estimated between $1,001 and $2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department made one medical run and several other dispatches recently.

* At 8:12 p.m. Friday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. It was determined the cause of the alarm was water dripping from the detector head.

* At 3:42 p.m. Friday, GFD cleaned up biological hazard materials at 1542 Bloomington St. The department helped with cleaning the hazardous materials outside the Emergency Room at the hospital.

* At 10:44 p.m. Friday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 420 Anderson St. The alarm was set off due to cooking on the second floor.

* At 2:02 a.m. Sunday, GFD responded to a report of a tree in the road on County Road 300 South, a half-mile west of U.S. 231. The department removed the small tree from the road.

* At 9:41 a.m. Tuesday, GFD responded to a mutual aid structure fire at 5000 W. County Road 350 North. There was some smoke coming from the attic of the mini barn on the premises. The small fire was extinguished.
