BLOOMINGTON -- Cloverdale senior pole vaulter Chris Moghadam brought his track career to a close at the IHSAA State Finals Friday night by finishing in a tie for 21st.

Moghadam cleared the opening height of 13 feet, tied with three other vaulters, one of whom, Jacob Ballain of Whiteland, took 20th place on a judges decision.

The other three athletes finished tied for 21st.

Deakin Volz of Bloomington South won the event, improving his own state finals record with a height of 17 feet, 6 inches.

Moghadam, who bounced back from a lackluster sectional performance with an oustanding regional last week, was the only Putnam County athlete in action at the finals.
