Fred Leroy Sterrett

Fred Leroy Sterrett, 101, recently of Greencastle and formerly of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born on Jan. 11, 1914 in Rushville to Walter Sterrett and Millie Lloyd Sterrett.

He retired in 1979 from General Motors with 30 years of service.

Fred was a longtime member of Whitestone Christian Church in Coatesville and the UAW.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mabel Lucille Jackson Sterrett; his second wife, Mary F. Buzzard Sterrett; two brothers, Harry Sterrett and Robert Sterrett; and six sisters, Marie Riebsommer, Virginia Gooding, RubyVogle, Helen Johnson, Maxine Schroeder and Louise Ogburn.

Surviving are his children, Alice Mackey of Indianapolis, Joyce Bright of Greenfield, Tom Sterrett and wife Debbe of Greenfield, Bill Buzzard and wife Marie of Newport News, Va., and Darlene Bee and husband Randy of Greencastle; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20 at 1 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Harlan Kincade officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
