June 22 Dine with a Doc luncheon to focus on senior kidney health

The free Dine with a Doc program Monday, June 22 will feature Dr. Kumar Guarav of the Kidney and Hypertension Center of the Wabash Valley.

Senior Education Ministries has scheduled a Dine with a Doc for the fourth Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Putnam County Hospital, 1542 Bloomington St., Greencastle.

Dr. Guarav attended medical school at the University of Medical Sciences in India and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee.

Kidney and Hypertension Center of Wabash Valley provides medical services to Wabash Valley area with the help of Gaurav who is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. With offices located in Greencastle, Terre Haute, Sullivan, Clinton, Brazil and Linton, it serves a large population area.

The practice primarily provides services for patients with kidney diseases, hypertension and associated medical problems. It also provides services to patients who have end stage renal disease and are dependent on dialysis or kidney transplant for survival.

During Dine with a Doc, each doctor donates time in an effort to listen and answer medical questions while sharing a meal. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or providing complimentary lunch.

This meeting is a free community-based program that welcomes senior citizens to hear an education topic with a complimentary lunch provided by this month's sponsor, Putnam County Hospital.

There will be an opening prayer and veterans in attendance will be recognized for their service followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to start the program. There will be various health care providers present to share information about their services and provide door prizes for participants to win.
