Friday, June 19, 2015

Learn all about composting with Master Gardener Karen Staub in the next My Garden Series Brown Bag program on Tuesday, June 23 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Putnam County Public Library.

Staub is a gold member Master Gardener and a master naturalist in Putnam and Parke counties, and a speaker on invasive as well as edible and medicinal native plant species.

She received her MAT at DePauw University and taught art for several years at Greencastle Middle School.

Staub has also taught in Clay County schools. She is a practicing artist and demonstrates a range of arts and crafts from Thursday through Sunday, uphill from the mill in Bridgeton.

She has published two books on macrame' lawn chairs, and her work is on display at the visitors' center at Lieber State Recreation area.

Persons may bring and enjoy their lunch while learning what to do with extra branches, leaves, kitchen garbage and newspapers.

Light refreshments will be served. The program is free and open to the public.
