PCSD deputy sidelined due to incident

A 33-year-old Putnam County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) deputy has been placed on administrative duty in the aftermath of an incident and accident in which he was reportedly involved early Saturday morning.

Deputy Tyler Turner, a member of the sheriff's department for less than two years, has had his police authority suspended indefinitely, according to Sheriff Scott Stockton.

The first-year sheriff ordered an internal investigation into the matter in accordance with new policies he has put in place at the department.

In the early morning hours on Saturday, Deputy Turner was involved in a domestic dispute, he reportedly informed his PCSD supervisor.

Subsequently Turner damaged his police car, a PCSD press release noted, as the result of a single-vehicle property-damage accident that reportedly ensued on the west side of Putnam County.

Sheriff's Department detectives were called out to investigate the incident, Sheriff Stockton said Sunday.

A full investigative report has been completed by the PCSD and is being forwarded to the Putnam County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Turner, who graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy last November, will remain on administrative duty pending the completion of that review.
