Brazil Band concert Sunday to celebrate 100 years of Jackson Twp. Band

BRAZIL -- Under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, the Brazil Concert Band will present "JTCB on Parade" Sunday, June 28 in Forest Park at Brazil.

The free concert will begin at the special time of 7:30 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to the pavilion.

The year 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the Jackson Township Community Band founded in Hoosierville, Clay County on the McNutt Farm in 1915.

In 1915, both the BCB and JTCB were conducted by J. Gus Davis. Here in the year 2015, both bands are directed by Huber.

The grand joint concert will feature music performed by the two bands through the past century and on joint appearances across the United States.

JTCB trombonist James Stout will be honored for his 50 years as a band member.

Patriotic music will sound forth this week complete with intermission.

Selections include "The Star-Spangled Banner," arranged by Sousa with T. J. Sneddon singing; "National Emblem March" by Bagley; "Columbia Grand Patriotic Potpourri" by Barnard; "The U.S. Field Artillery" by Sousa; "Armed Forces Salute" by Lowden; "E Pluribus Unum" by Jewell; "Sabre and Spurs" by Sousa and "American Patrol" by Meacham.

Also, "The Brazil Special" by Davis, "The Fourth of July" by Cacava, "Bravura" by Duble, "America, the Beautiful" arranged by Dragon, "Shrine of Liberty" by Jewell, "JTCB On Parade" by Workman and "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Sousa.
