Safety First

Thursday, June 25, 2015
Area FFA chapters and community members came together Tuesday to teach safety measures to area youth, and some adults. The RILEY for Safety event was coordinated with the use of funds raised in memory of the late Riley Sutherlin, who died last year in a tractor accident on his family's farm. South Putnam FFA sponsor Amanda King, who helped organize the event, stressed the importance of teaching agricultural safety to all youth in order to prevent tragedies. Sutherlin's parents, Ron and Alana, were also in attendance. Area farms, businesses and emergency personnel attended the event. Greencastle Firefighters Jason Simonson (front) and Kyle App brought the mobile command unit to the event. Simonson shows Aubrey Bennett, 10, how to use the "Jaws of Life."
