Poplar Street now open to 2-way traffic during work

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Poplar Street, which is regularly a one-way street westbound between Locust and Jackson streets in Greencastle, will temporarily be a two-way street.

Poplar Street is now open to two-way traffic between Jackson Street and College Avenue (Marvin's), during the Vine Street construction project.

The change was effective Monday, June 29, Mayor Sue Murray announced.

Meanwhile, the stretch of Walnut Street between Vine Street and College Avenue has also opened to two-way traffic during the construction. That section of East Walnut is regularly one-way eastbound.

As the Vine Street streetscape construction continues, the closing of the Vine and Seminary street intersection is due up next, Mayor Murray said last week.

"It will also be the first (intersection) to reopen again," she said, indicating that was scheduled to occur before students return for classes at DePauw University.
