Greencastle natives Jet and Dani Kaiser have a couple of pretty significant awards to add to the repertoire of their video production company Lightspan Studios.

The Kaisers were working in the Baltimore area Saturday when they received a text message that the piece "Because I Can" was the winner of two Lower Great Lakes Chapter Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Saturday at Banker's Life Fieldhouse.

"It was a lot of weight off our shoulders. You think about how neat it would be to win the award, but we were like, 'Let's not hype it up'," Jet Kaiser explained Monday.

Despite the fear of getting their hopes up, the husband-wife duo of Lightspan Studios came out on top.

"Because I Can" was awarded an Emmy for the Promotion - Program sports category, with Kaiser as the editor alongside the piece's executive producer Blake Boldon and producer Laura Neidig.

Lightspan Studios was also awarded an Emmy in the Crafts Photographer - Program (non-news) category for the cinematography. Kaiser explained the cinematography focuses on the composition and overall choice of what visuals appear in the piece.

The five minute and 11 second video tells the story of four participants in the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, including a teenage Olympic-hopeful, a 40-year-old former Olympian, a cancer patient who is leading the way and a 91-year-old man who is running the half-marathon.

The video digs into what drives each of the participants and features scenes of the marathon's route.

Kaiser said this is the first major award Lightspan Studios has received, which he said will add the studio's credibility as they continue to sign on work.

"We have four Telly Awards, but not everyone knows what that is. Everyone knows what an Emmy is," Kaiser said. "This is the biggest recognition we have received so far.

"When we get approached by clients in the future, they will note this."

Kaiser said they have yet to see the statues, one of which will be kept by the producers.

"We are excited to see what this means for our future," Kaiser said. "You can like what you do, but when you start to recognized it's really special."
