Hazel Allen Singleton

Hazel Allen Singleton, 95, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2015.

Born Dec. 22, 1919 in Johnetta, Ky., she was the daughter of Arch and Delia (Abney) Allen.

She married William L. Singleton on April 12, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Hazel was a homemaker, working alongside her husband on the family farm. She loved to cook, sew, garden, read and care for her family.

She was a lifetime member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Revenna (Kenneth) Richardson of Clayton, Lucy (Darrell) Detro of Greencastle, son, Billy (Virginia) Singleton of Greencastle, and Rebecca (John) Fair of DeLand, Fla.; sister Mildred Allen of Lafayette; son-in-law David Cooper of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four step great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Annalene Cooper; son-in-law Maynard Arnold; eight brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev Nathan Crouch officiating.

Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Fillmore.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
