Free Safety Saturday event at DPU parking lot

Safety Saturday, a safety program aimed at local children, is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 at the DePauw University Jackson Street parking lot, located south of Hanna Street.

The free community event, sponsored by Heather Taylor State Farm Insurance and Mill Pond Health Campus, will include complimentary food like hotdogs, bicycle safety, healthy-eating information and more.

Emergency services personnel will also be on hand to help educate the Safety Squad.

The Greencastle Police Department will offer car seat safety information, while the Greencastle Fire Department will address fire safety and have the smokehouse on display.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is scheduled to participate with an obstacle course.
