Ewell Joseph Edward 'Joe' Dozier II

Ewell Joseph Edward "Joe" Dozier II, age 67, of Brazil, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015.

Born March 30, 1948 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Ewell and Dorothy Alice (Branham) Dozier and was a 1967 graduate of Bainbridge High School. He had also received his associates degree in maintenance from Ivy Tech.

Joe married Maridee A. (Walsh) Dozier on June 3, 1967.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, and retiring after 30 years of service with a rank of master sergeant.

He also worked at Great Dane Trailers in Brazil for more than 20 years and later as a correctional officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Joe was a member and former president of the Brazil Kiwanis Club; a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, Brazil; and the Moose Lodge, Greencastle.

Survivors include his wife Maridee Dozier; son Samuel (Julie) Dozier; daughter Kattie (Scott) Crays; brothers Michael Dozier, John Wayne Dozier and Randy Dozier; sister Sandy Greenwell; grandchildren Jack, Alex and Rachel Dozier, Justin (Parker) Crays, Bridgette and Wyatt Crays; and special friends Shirley Shambaugh, Linda Todd, Major Holley and Smitty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant children, Jason and Christina Dozier.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 23 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with military honors will follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22 at the funeral home.
