Joseph Earl Smith

Joseph Earl Smith, 60, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015.

Joe was born on March 11, 1955 in Indianapolis to Jimmy Lee Smith and Frankie E. Adams Smith.

He was a 1973 graduate of South Putnam High School and attended Indiana State University.

Joe retired from the DePauw University Printing Department in March 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Brenda S. Hollen Smith; two children, Rebecca Treadwell and Samuel J. L. Smith and wife Whitney; a sister, Toni Marcum; and six grandchildren, Dakotah VanEvery, Kavaun Treadwell, Keenan Treadwell, Kendall Treadwell, Kimberlyn Treadwell and his bestest buddy, Jeffrey Joseph Lee Smith.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Thursday, July 30 at 6 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Mike Faust officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of services.

Joe was an avid golfer and Colts fan, and enjoyed playing euchre and attending the Brickyard 400 and Indianapolis 500.
